Fourme d’Ambert is a crown jewel of French blue cheeses, originating from the Auvergne region and prized for its refined flavor and sumptuous texture. Made from pasteurized cow’s milk and aged in volcanic caves, this iconic blue offers a delicate balance of earthiness, creaminess, and subtle blue veining—less sharp than Roquefort, yet profoundly complex.
Its cylindrical shape and natural rind speak to its traditional production methods, while its soft, velvety interior melts luxuriously on the palate. Notes of sweet cream, wild mushrooms, and a hint of minerality make it an exceptional pairing with Sauternes, aged Ports, or a bold red Rhône.
Perfect for elevated entertaining or gifting to a true connoisseur, Fourme d’Ambert embodies the elegance of Old World craftsmanship. Available now at Talbott & Arding, your destination for exceptional, small-batch cheeses that celebrate tradition, terroir, and taste.

I picked ground shipping becuse 1-2 day shipping costs were exorbitant. I recently had this cheese at a Napa vineyard during a tasting and know the flavor of this cheese. It arrived with cold packs no longer cold, my fault in choice of reduced shipping fees. The cheese tastes a bit “spunkier” than my recent experience elsewhere; I believe the product suffered in quality due to 4-5 days in transit. I would not order again but only becuse overnight shipping costs were 2x the product cost.
